The Wilderness Cabin offers peace and comfort amid rolling hills. This secluded cabin offers magnificent views of the Horseshoe Range. It is the ideal spot for anyone wishing to get away from it all! It is set in a very remote and rugged part of the Horseshoe Range, yet is easily accessible.
The Cabin is well furnished, with all cooking equipment available in the kitchen. The log fire provides beautiful natural heat to the cabin, and solar power offers all of your creature comforts while maintaining off grid living. Outside, enjoy a campfire or BBQ with great views of the valley.
Overlooking a private dam, sit on the veranda or at one of the full windows and watch the wildlife come to the water at sunset. Catch a real glimpse of the bush as kangaroos and emus wander in for a drink. Bird-watchers are frequent visitors and there have been reported sightings of rare species at the cabin and surrounding walks. A list of local birds is also available inside the cabin.
The Horseshoe and surrounding areas boast a variety of activities, a popular 2 hour walk on the property up to Mount Stokes (the highest point of the Horseshoe Range) follows the creek, and if weather permits even a waterfall . For those feeling more adventurous, the Horseshoe Rim 4WD Adventure Track loops its way around the surrounding hills and is easily accessed from your accomodation.
As privacy is paramount at the Cabin, the track has been designed to preserve this. Your hosts, Ben and Susan Carn live on another property closer to Quorn and do not bother guests unless requested to address any concerns.
At shearing time in August/September, visitors are invited to travel around the range to the shearing shed and watch. Many consider this to be a highlight.
There are enough beds for 8, making it ideal for both families, couples, or a secluded getaway for one.
